Clinton High School is looking for a dynamic professional to become part of a caring and committed staff.
The School Adjustment Counselor provides social, emotional, and therapeutic support to students and is the clinical coordinator for the BRYT and TLC programs.
The School Adjustment Counselor assesses students in crisis and prioritizes students needs accordingly.
The School Adjustment Counselor facilitates the diagnosis and treatment of student learning, behavioral, and emotional disorders.
In coordination with parents, teachers, administrators, and community health providers, our counselors address concerns and support all students to make effective progress.
Our counselor trains, communicates, and collaborates with teachers and staff to provide the best learning opportunities and outcomes for students.
Responsibilities :
Counsel individuals and groups; facilitate and schedule group sessions as needed.
Provide clinical coordination for the BRYT ( Bridge for Resilient Youth in Transition ) and TLC ( Therapeutic Learning Classroom ) programs Assess and provide recommendations/interventions for students in crisis Attend Student Support Team meetings and give updates on BRYT students progress Collaborate and communicate with school counselors, school psychologist, administrators, teachers, and parents Employ culturally proficient practices in order to support students academic and personal/social emotional development Work with students to develop and increase skills around executive functioning, self-regulation and calming, organization, etc.
Provide classroom consultation and in-service training on strategies and evidence-based approaches for maximizing the total development of students.
Work cooperatively with students, teachers, and other appropriate staff to provide trainings on specific topics such as bullying, substance use prevention, and suicide prevention.
Provide direct intervention services to students with behaviors that interfere with academic progress, cause conflict with peers, and prevent them from being successful in the classroom.
Provide staff with classroom and school-wide behavior management strategies to promote a safe school environment.
Work closely with state agencies such as DYS, DCF, and the juvenile court Develop behavior plans for students with IE Ps and 504s, as needed; Assist in the development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments / Behavior Intervention Plans Develop , track, and report on IEP goals and accommodations for special education caseload; Participate in Team meetings Maintain records as required.
